Prairies RAC Annoucement
Mr. David Anderson, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister
of Natural Resources and for the Canadian Wheat Board, will be
announcing funding for the Prairies Regional Adaptation Collaborative
(Prairies RAC) as part of the federal government’s investment
to help Canadians adapt to climate change. The announcement
will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010,
at the Terrace Building, #10, Research Drive, University of Regina.
University of Regina President Dr. Vianne Timmons and representatives
of Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Alberta speak briefly concerning
their participation in the Prairies RAC.
The Prairies RAC project is built on shared needs and a similarity
of expected climate change impacts and vulnerabilities related
to a changing moisture balance across the three Prairie Provinces.
The project will involve extensive collaboration and up to $3.3M
in funding over three years from the Government of Canada. There
will be matching funding provided by many partners over the life
of the project. Please scroll down to the Backgrounder at the
end of this email for more information.
